【摘要】:Degradationofgearoilsbyoxidationorthermalbreakdown,orboth,canresultinsludgebuildupandrendertheoilunsuitableforfurtheruseasalubricant.Thisistheonlytestmethodthatemploysglasswaretomeasuretheamountofsludgeproducedduringoxidationandthermaldegradation.ThistestmethodisamodificationofTestMethodD2893whichmeasurestheviscosityincreaseandprecipitationnumberoftheoilstressedat95x00B0;C,butdoesnotmeasuretheamountofsludgeformed.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoevaluatetheoxidation/thermalstabilityofgearoils.However,thetestresultsmaynotcorrelatewiththeperformanceofgearoilsinfieldservice.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheoxidationcharacteristicsofextremepressureandnon-extremepressuregearoilsandincludesthequantitativedeterminationoftotalsludge,viscositychange,andoilloss.Note1Whiletheround-robintestsusedISOVG220extremepressuregearoilsfordevelopingprecisiondata,thetestmethodcanbeextendedtootherviscositygradesandtonon-extremepressuregearoils.RefertoClassificationD2422forviscositygrades.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
